My name is Dan Baczynski Maciá and I am...
A culture lover
Born in France to parents Polish and Colombian, having lived for two years in Thailand and eight in the UK, I am multicultural. My origins and numerous trips showed me places and cultures which constantly inspire me.
So curious
My curiosity makes me a multidisciplinary designer able to work in several domains and to adapt myself in a given work environment. Always learning something new is what I am looking for.
A maker
The desire to see my projects becoming reality makes me a Maker: DIY, produce, test, do experiments and constantly learn in order to enrich my multidisciplinary approach.
An empathic musician
In my daily work, like in a jam sessions, I listen to others to create the best experience to the audience. My approach is user-centred yet systems-oriented.
This is what I do
Today, I bring together my expertise in those areas
to create outstanding omnichannel customer experiences
for major brands and retailers.
Spatial design
Visiting places makes a lasting impression on our mind by living experiences full of feelings.
As a spatial designer, I imagine those places we live in by creating identities with materials, lights and colors, telling us stories through immersive experiences.
UX design
Thinking about how digital shapes our daily life, I understood that data are the new material to design concepts closer to us.
As a UX designer, I conceive user-centered projects to bring ease and enjoyment of experience on digital products.
CX & Service design
Services define the relation between a business and its customers.
As a service designer, I create holistic systems, processes and user flows to enrich businesses and their customers with meaningful services issued from digital innovation.
Systemic design
With new technologies, societal and environmental changes, the world is facing complex systemic challenges.
As a systemic designer, I envision business solutions creating shared value for society while taking into account their externalities.
I worked for them

My career path
Education
With a taste for new technologies and issued from a scientific background, when I got my bachelor in Spatial design, I began a master's degree in UX design. It allowed me to bring a better experience in the physical world through digital. In this way, I did a dual master’s degree in partnership with the engineering school Polytech Nantes in the field of Service design, working on my thesis project about the Future of retail.
I am now graduated with honors from the École de design Nantes Atlantique.
Work experience
During my scholarship, I have done some internship in interior design, always bringing my knowledge of UX and Service design through new technologies. It is at MIA Collaboration in Bangkok that I discovered retail design. Back in France, I did my last internship at Garnier (L’Oréal group) as a retail / visual designer, working on furnitures and on the UX of a prospective digital signage.
Since 2016, I work at FITCH, now Landor, in London as an Systems designer, making brands future-proofed by delivering digital service design, circular design and speculative design solutions.
My next steps
For those last couple of years, my passion for DIY and my personal projects made me getting a deep interest in circular economy and sustainability, and therefore in complex societal challenges. I did a course on Business Sustainability Management from the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, giving me the keys to integrate a systems-thinking approach to my projects.
I aim to use my experience and knowledge of customer and brand experience for purposeful projects tackling those global challenges.
